The Cavaliers’ epidemic of injuries and widespread failures on the court this season made one decision easy for second-year general manager Koby Altman.

He’s a seller as the NBA’s trade deadline of Feb. 7 approaches.

Altman professed at the season’s outset a desire to build around Kevin Love and other established vets, create “meaningful” minutes in games that matter for rookie Collin Sexton and second-year man Cedi Osman, and maintain a competitive team after four consecutive NBA Finals appearances with the outside chance of making the playoffs this year.

Yes, those dreams crumbled quickly. Love was lost to toe surgery after just four games, coach Tyronn Lue was fired after six, and here the Cavs stand today with the league’s worst record, 9-38. Their players have missed 155 games due to injury, with no sign of it stopping.
